Mojo Dogs

Roots Rock, Non-Stop!

Taking the state like a modern day land rush, Jeff Beguin and the Mojo Dogs are ready to take their unique brand of music to the people. Their blend of musical styles is right at home with a wide arrayof audiences and venues. No stage is too big, or too small. Like the Mojo Dogs like to say, “If you’ve got electricity we’ll be there.”

Jeff Beguin (vocals/guitar) continues the long tradition of Okie songwriters by mining the area where rock, country and blues collide, and combining those influences in his heartfelt songs.

As a founding member of The Bluehemians, Jeff led that group to numerous nominations for local music awards, including being named the 2005 “Entertainers of the Year”, and the 2006 “Blues Band of the Year” in the Payne County Line Promotion music awards. Jeff’s original song, “Lookin for Trouble” received national airplay on the nationally syndicated “Blues Deluxe”, radio show, reaching an audience of over 2 million listeners across North America.

Now he is ready to start a new chapter on his musical journey. With a shift towards original music, Jeff Beguin and the Mojo Dogs are prepared to let the musical pieces fall where they may. Regardless
of genre, labels or trends, this new group is determined to bring an honest representation of who they are, and where they’ve been. “Three chords and the truth.” Amen.

Joining Jeff in the Mojo Dogs is another former Bluehemian, drummer Bill Finton. Bill cut his teeth as a studio drummer while still a teen in West Memphis, Arkansas. There he recorded sides with
blues men like Sammy Lewis, and Sonny Blake, and made regular appearances on Memphis radio on the “Craft Country Radio Show.” More recently Bill has graced the stage and studio with well
known Tulsa acts like Susan Herndon, The Bluehemians, and Stepping Stones. Rounding out rhythm section is Sand Springs native, bassist Randy Rice. Randy began his career on guitar and vocals, even making appearances on local television like KTUL’s “The John Chick Show.” A vacancy at the bass slot in one of his bands lead Randy to make the switch to bass, and he has never looked back. Through a long succession of southern boogie, country, rock, and blues bands Randy has played everything from local watering holes to the legendary Cain’s Ballroom, alongside such notables as Ace Mooreland, Steve Hardin, and Randy Crouch.

The newest addition to the Mojo Dogs lineup is veteran keyboard man Peter DeLesDernier. Pete is originally from Boston, Massachusetts but has lived in Oklahoma since 1971. Over the last 30 years he has gained vast experience both live and in the studio, and has built up a large repertoire that covers rock, blues, jazz and country music. You may have seen Pete on stage in many capacities—as a sideman for the Red Dirt Rangers, a former member of The Bluehemians, or as a founding member of The Stepping Stones, among others.

Combine these talented individuals and you’ve got the Mojo Dogs. To them good music is a lot like down home cooking. It’s simple, tasty, a little bit greasy maybe, but it sticks to your ribs and makes
you feel good. If that sounds good to you be sure to give them a listen... we’re sure you’ll be coming back for seconds.

The goal of the Mojo Dogs is to above all entertain your guests. To do so we carefully select the material for our set lists to include music that will surprise and please even the most discriminating of music fans. After years of professional experience we know what it means to
play to the crowd on hand, and try to include something that will please everyone in attendance.

That said, we do like to keep things fresh and interesting. The Mojo Dogs take great pride in searching out good music that is off the beaten path and not overplayed. We choose songs that fit our style, and the style of our audience, but try to bring something new and fresh at the same time.
