The Wild West gets wacky when "Shenaniguns Comedy Wild West Show" performs at the (your event here.) "Shenaniguns," a slapstick send-up of the Old West, follows the antics of Sheriff Hoppalong Casually and Deputy Leon P. Jones as they face off against a pair of dimwit desperadoes named Bad Bob and Bubba Bob. Set in front of a custom-built Wild West town, the show includes an off-the-wall combination of cornball comedy, special effects and audience participation. It's light-hearted family entertainment with one simple purpose- to make people laugh.
"It's the response from our crowd that really gets us going," said Daryl Humphries, who plays the sheriff Casually. "It's about the laughs, about fun, about people having a good time."
While the cast of cowboys dressed up in authentic old west duds may look like time travelers from Tombstone, "Shenaniguns" isn't exactly like stepping into the past. It's more like slipping sideways on a banana peel into a Wild West cartoon. Preposterous things start to happen. The deputy demonstrates his magic "echo bucket." A pet rubber chicken named Gertrude retrieves a telegram. The bad guys lock horns in a cheerleading competition. "Shenaniguns" takes its influence not from the history books, but from the slapstick satire of "The Three Stooges," the cornpone country comedy of "Hee Haw," and the absurd silliness of "Monty Python's Flying Circus."
"It's not supposed to be historical; it's supposed to be hysterical," said Humphries.
"Shenaniguns Comedy Wild West Show" will perform its slapstick satire of the Old West (Date) through (date) at the (your event here.)
