September 25 - October 5, 2008

The Tulsa State Fair (TSF) is Oklahoma’s premier family event. For over 100 years, the Fair has been Oklahoma’s top education, entertainment and competition event with thousands of visitors attending each day. The Tulsa State Fair is rich in history and heritage.

Volunteers are critical for the successful operation of the Fair each year. Their faithful service is the backbone of the Fair, and without them, it would be impossible to provide the special hospitality, educational and children’s services to Fair guests. The services provided by TSF Volunteers ensure that our Fair is one of the best in the country!

TSF Volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of interests and talents. Some of our volunteers are retired, some are in school, some are stay-home moms and some are respected members of our business community. The one thing that they all have in common is a big smile! Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or be assigned to work with a parent or guardian.

TSF volunteers provide support during the move-in days immediately prior to the Fair; during the Fair and the move out days following the fair. Each volunteer is asked to complete two four hour shifts depending on the duties and assignments. Volunteer opportunities are available for everyone’s special skill and preference.

TSF Volunteers receive the following perks:

  • A Volunteer T-shirt
  • Two fair entry tickets per shift
  • A Food voucher good for one entree, one side and one drink for every shift worked
  • Weekend parking at F&M bank with free shuttle service
  • Appreciation Banquet

All volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory orientation and training session meeting that will be held just prior to the Fair. All your questions will be answered, and you will receive your free, official Tulsa State Fair Volunteer T-shirt to wear during the Fair.

HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER

1.  Complete an official application:

2.  Register for the shifts that you want to work:

The Volunteer Shift Registration Form is very important.  It indicates the specific dates, times and venues that you are available to volunteer.  Please make sure to indicate your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices of locations where indicated.  We would like to encourage you to enroll in four or more shifts during the Fair!

If you are unsure of your schedule in September at the time that you send in your Volunteer Application, you can wait and submit your Volunteer Shift Registration Form later.  All applicants will receive a Volunteer Shift Registration Form if they have not yet done so.  This gives you the opportunity to make arrangements and set the time aside in your schedule. Please select one of the following:

An important note concerning shift registration:  As can be expected, some venues and some shifts are more requested than others.  Consequently, volunteers requesting to work at only the most popular locations and shifts will not be assigned these requests exclusively.  While turning in your Shift Registrations early will give you priority – it does not automatically guarantee your assignments.  Although every attempt will be made to give volunteers their first choices, this is not always possible.  Therefore, volunteers are required to indicate their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices of location (or indicate that you have no preference) when requesting to volunteer.

 3.  Return the forms as early as possible!

This not only helps us to ensure that all of our spots are covered, it also helps to ensure that you get the volunteer position you most enjoy.  Positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please note that requesting a specific location, date, time does not automatically guarantee your assignment.  Although every attempt will be made to give volunteers their first choices, this is not always possible.

4.  Attend Volunteer Training and Orientation:

All volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory orientation and training session that will be held just prior to the Fair.  Attendance at this meeting is critical in order to receive the information necessary to perform your volunteer duties.  Your parking information, t-shirt and gate admission ticket(s) will be available for pick up at the orientation meeting. (First year volunteers will receive a ticket for their first shift at orientation.  They will receive their other tickets at the end of their first shift.)

5.  Don’t miss any of the fun - sign up now!

Once we have received your application, we will add you to our mail list and you will begin to receive more information as well as invitations to up-coming meetings and events.

6. Return your Application, Shirt Request and Shift Registration Forms to:
