Entry Deadline

The entry deadline for all 2008 Tulsa State Fair Livestock and Horse Shows is August 29, 2008. Please read specific division rules for more information.

Livestock and Horse Premium Books

The Tulsa State Fair will not be mailing out Livestock and Horse Premium Books for the 2008 Tulsa State Fair. The Livestock and Horse Premium Books as well as all entry forms and information are available online only. Please contact the Tulsa State Fair Livestock Office if you have any problems downloading information and we will be happy fax or mail any information you need.

Open Livestock Show Changes

Natural Colored Sheep Show
The 2008 Tulsa State Fair Natural Colored Sheep Show will not be held separately from the Open Sheep Show, but in conjunction with the Open Sheep Show. Please see the Open Sheep Show Division Rules for more information.

Open Percentage Simmental Show
In addition to the Open Purebred Simmental Show, the 2008 Tulsa State Fair will offer an Open Percentage Simmental Show. Please see the Open Purebred and Percentage Simmental Show Rules for more information.

Open Swine Show
There will not be a Boar Show offered during the Open Swine Show at the 2008 Tulsa State Fair.

Open and Youth Dairy Goat Show
There will not be a Saanen Show during the Open and Youth Dairy Goat Show at the 2008 Tulsa State Fair. Nigerian Dwarf Show has been added to the Premium List for the 2008 Tulsa State Fair. Please see the Open and Youth Dairy Goat Show Division Rules for more information.

Cattle Dog Trials
The Jack King Maturity as been added to the Cattle Dog Trail for the 2008 Tulsa State Fair. Please see the Cattle Dog Trial Division Rules for more information.

 

Junior Livestock Show Changes

Family Nominations

Junior Market Show Exhibitors will be allowed to enter and show any Junior Market Animals that were nominated by an individual from their household according to the following restrictions:

a. The exhibitors must all legally reside in the same household.

b. The exhibitor entering the barrow must have cared for daily from date of nomination.

c. The final exhibitor decision must be made at the time of entry.

d. In the case the exhibitor is ineligible to show, each animal entered in the exhibitor’s name is also ineligible to show.

Scales
Each 4-H County or FFA Chapter will be allowed to purchase a scale permit by submitting a $25 fee for each permit along with entries. All scales must be used at the end of the aisles and must have a scale permit. Scale permits will be issued and must be placed on the upper, right hand corner at the back of the scale.

4-H & FFA Dress Code
All junior exhibitors will be required to wear appropriate dress representing their organization.

FFA: Official FFA jacket, clean pressed jeans, clean shirt with collar, regulation FFA tie and white shirts optional.

4-H: Official 4-H jacket that is dark or “kelly” green in color, with a 4-H Clover (green with white H’s) either on the back, that is no smaller than seven inches and/or on the front that is at least three inches in size, clean, pressed jeans, clean shirt with collar, tie or scarf optional.

NOTICE: If Show Management declares the temperature too warm for exhibitor to wear official 4-H or FFA jackets, the exhibitor must wear a solid clean white shirt with solid white collar and the shirt must have either a 4-H or FFA emblem visible.

Junior Market Steer Show
The Rate of Gain rule has been eliminated for the 2008 Tulsa State Fair. Steers will not be required to gain two pounds per day to be eligible for the Junior Livestock Auction nor will the exhibitor be required to display a ROG card to the judge.

Junior Market Barrow Show and Junior Breeding Gilt Show

PQA: All gilt and barrow exhibitors are required to complete Youth Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) or Pork Quality Assurance Plus (PQA Plus) certification prior to the gilt and barrow shows. Exhibitors are encouraged to complete PQA certification prior to the July 1, 2008 nomination date. Evidence of PQA certification is required by entering the exhibitor’s PQA number when submitting nominations and entries. There will NOT be an on-site PQA certification program. Any barrow or gilt exhibitor who does not have PQA or PQA Plus certification will not be allowed to participate in the show.

Horse Show Changes

Pinto Horse Show
The Oklahoma Pinto Horse Association has added the Big Futurity to the Premium Listing. Please see the Pinto Horse Show Rules for more information.
