– The 2008 Tulsa State Fair was full of exciting entertainment, new facilities and fun for all. During the community’s largest event, the daily paid gate revenue increased 9 percent over the 2007 Tulsa State Fair, making it the highest paid gate revenue ever recorded.
Many other revenue generating areas increased as well, which includes: ExpoServe Concessions - increased 2 percent, Independent Concessionaires - increased 7 percent, Midway Ride Coupon Sales - increased 16 percent, ride commission paid to Tulsa County Public Facility Authority increased 14 percent, and Sky Ride sales increased an impressive 46 percent. Although there were increases in most areas, there was a decrease in Mega Ride Pass and Disney on Ice sales.
The Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Auction, which is a source of funding for our scholarship program, had an increase of approximately 3 percent, totaling $524,300. Additionally, there was an 8 percent increase in livestock entered in the 141 livestock shows during the 11 days of the Tulsa State Fair.
Overall fair attendance includes daily ticket sales, as well as the following attendance sources: Mega Ride Pass sales, Advance ticket sales, Disney on Ice sales, PRCA Rodeo sales, Exhibitor and Vendor tickets. All the stated sources were instrumental in determining the estimated attendance, and will continue to be excellent resources in future years.
“The 2008 Tulsa State Fair was a huge success. Our sincere appreciation goes to the workers of Tulsa County, Flintco, CJC and Expo’s Maintenance Department. The combination of the investment made by Tulsa County residents and the hard work put into this facility has made Expo Square a destination enjoyed by all and generations to come. I’m extremely proud of the accomplishments achieved, making this facility one of the top event complexes and fairs in the country. Our success is reflected by the estimated 915,000 people who attended the 2008 Tulsa State Fair.” stated Mark Andrus, Expo Square Interim President / CEO.
Thanks to Tulsa and surrounding communities, the 2008 Tulsa State Fair rolled to success and will begin preparations for 2009. It is with great pride to announce “Flying High” will be the theme of the 2009 Tulsa State Fair. “Flying High” reflects the vision of the future for Expo Square and the Tulsa State Fair.
